    The best part of version 2 of Last Spam is that it was designed to allow properly configured email servers to email you and block those that are clearly setup for malicious purposes. My favorite part of the solution has to be that I can blacklist an entire country email code in about 3 seconds and that I don’t have to spend as much time on whitelisting and blacklisting as I used to.

    I’m sure all you folks have seen warnings from Google, Yahoo, Shopify and any tool you use for email that there will be new enforcement of DMARC and SPF to reduce spam and spoofing.

    I know a lot of you folks are not very technical, but please do not ignore this.

    Here's a good explanation if you want to learn more. Buf if your eyes glaze over reading this, read this entire email first.

    We sent an email to one important customer this week... and it got blocked. We had just emailed them a few weeks ago. But apparently their IT has tightened up and our email got blocked.

    This was after I had done my best to be compliant after hours of research. But I made several errors.

    So....

    What Should You Do?

    1. Take this seriously. Email communication, even if you don't do email marketing, is core to your business.

    2. Take action NOW. It's happening. Deadlines for Yahoo and Google are April 1st, but as the example of our customer - corporate IT departments are buttoning up this NOW.

    3. Get help. If you don't think you can handle this, get help. I'm pretty technical. I manage our domains, our DNS, our ERP system - basically all our relatively complex IT stuff. And I didn't do it correctly. I made several simple fatal errors. And I didn't know enough to know that I had made these errors.

    4. Confirm it's working. There are a bunch of free tools to check your domain. But there is some nuance, so if you don't know what you are doing, then see #3.

    Who can help?

    There are a lot of people out there you can hire. You don't need to spend $1k on this, but you will need to spend some if you want competent help.

    I was able to find a person who turned out to be very helpful, very quick, and very transparent. Fixed our set up and our email to our customer went thru.

    I can't recommend them enough. This is all they do. Email IT. That's it. They are very experienced, close to our timezone, speaks English, and can explain this all in human.
